To go along with our rock unit we made pet rocks. We decorated river rocks, named them, and then wrote adventure stories complete with characters, setting, problem and solution.

Japan and Antarctica plane trips
We took trips to Japan and Antarctica! In Japan we learned how to make origami and Zen gardens! We even tried to eat rice with chop sticks. Do you know how to say "goodbye" in Japanese? We do! In Antarctica we were quite chilly! We saw so many of the penguins that we have been reading and writing about during our penguin unit. We even tested out what blubber does for penguins! We are such travelers!
Shaving cream spelling!
First we played in the shaving cream and then we practiced a HUGE list of sight words by writing them correctly in the cream. It really helped our brains to be touching and moving while learning!
100th day of school!
The 100th day of school is Mrs. Brown's favorite day of the year. We spent the entire day celebrating all of the learning and growth we have made in the last 100 days! We wrote stories about what we would do with 100 dollars, we made pictures of ourselves at 100 years old, we practiced counting to 100 by grouping numbers by 10's while we made posters and necklaces. Wow! We are certainly experts on the number 100 now!
Winter party
We celebrated by having a craft party together! We "sewed" paper stockings, we marble painted, and we even made traps to catch our gingerbread people! We had a blast!

Community snack
Each piece of our snack symbolized an important aspect of our class as a community! It sure was tasty!
